Trial version won't launch on Mac OS 10.6.8

I've downloaded the trial version. After I install it and attempt to open it the icon bounces for a while in the Dock but FastTrack never opens. I have to force quit the application. Any ideas?

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your interest in FastTrack Schedule 10 and for taking the time to contact us. I tried to reach you by phone but only got your voicemail. Here are a couple of things you can try:

Verify that you have Read + Write privileges to necessary folders:
- Open Finder
- Select your Hard Drive
- Library
- Application Support
- Do you see an AEC Software folder?
- Get Info on the AEC Software folder and verify that your user account has Read + Write privileges

Clear User Preferences:
- Go to the User Home folder
- Library
- Preferences
- Throw AEC Software folder in the trash

Repair Disk Permissions:
- Open Finder
- Applications
- Utilities
- Disk Utility
- Select Hard Drive
- Repair Disk Permissions
- Restart Computer

Do you notice any other behavior like the menus or toolbar being displayed in addition to the FastTrack Schedule icon bouncing on the dock?

Please let us know the outcome.

I checked the permissions as you suggested and the admin group had read/write access, I am an admin of my account. Just in case I added my account to the folder and gave it read/write access.
There was no AEC folder in the ~/Library/Preferences folder. I already had repaired permissions but did it again anyway. It still wouldn't launch. I then reinstalled the Mac OS X 10.6.8 combo installer,
tossed the AEC Software folder from Library/ Application Support, tossed the FastTrack Schedule 10 from the Applications folder, disabled Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect and reinstalled FastTrack Schedule 10.
Then I tried to launch FastTrack Schedule 10 again and this time it worked. Thanks for your help.

I'm having this exact problem on OS Lion.  My findings are the same as the user above, except I do not have Norton AntiVirus.  I've re-installed 3+ times to no avail.  To answer your question about the menus and toolbar, no - nothing is being displayed, the FasTrack Schedule icon just bounces for a long time in the dock.  Eventually it stops and I need to force quit the app.

Hi Stacey,

Do you have Java installed? Please verify by going to Finder > Application > Utilities > Java Preferences. Also, what version of Java do you have installed?

We have created two topics regarding the behavior you are both experiencing. We will continue to revise these topics as updates become available.

I will also provide an update here. Thank you for your patience as we work on a solution.

In case you haven't seen the updates to the topics listed above, please try the following workaround which has worked for some users:

1. Go to System Preferences > Accounts > Create a new user with Admin privileges
2. Log out of your user account (do not use fast user switching)
3. Log into the newly created user account
4. Try to launch FastTrack Schedule 10
5. Close FastTrack Schedule 10 and log out
6. Log into your user account
7. Try to launch FastTrack Schedule 10
8. If FastTrack Schedule still does not launch, try to restart the computer and repeat steps 3 - 7

If this does not resolve the issue, please be assured that we are working on an update to provide FastTrack Schedule users with a fix.

hi, ii have the full FTS10 program and running on a mac os 10.6.8. Since i did the last mac os update (10.6.8) FTS10, upon attempting to launch, shows the bouncing icon but never opens. Reinstalled FTS10 last night and same deal. Update FTS10 to 1o.0.2 and that didn't work either. Planning on upgrading to Lion soon but doesn't sound like that will fix it either. Help!

Hello All,

We'd like to thank you for your patience as a solution to this problem was being made. The main issue found dealt with compatibility of files after the update to Safari 5.1. I am happy to inform you that this issue has been resolved. The newest version of the software, 10.0.3, can be downloaded at http://www.aecsoftware.com/support/updates/
